Your Main Responsibilities

A number of exciting opportunities have arisen within our Project Management Departments at BAE Systems Saudi Arabia for project management professionals who have experience in developing and operating Project Control Systems.

Once applications have been received, we will look to match them where possible with existing opportunities within the company, or keep them on file to evaluate again as and when new opportunities and roles materialize. Particular areas of expertise include:

Project Control Systems – Individuals with a good understanding of project control methodologies and establishing and running Project Control / Planning Monitoring and Control Systems, including: Integrated Scheduling, Earned Value Management; Risk & Opportunity Management; Control Account Management; and Change Management. Individuals will understand how to define and apply project control systems in a systematic way, to ensure regular and accurate measurement and reporting of project status. Also to understand and be able to develop and tailor the fundamental processes involved in running project control systems in order to suit the project needs. Ideally applicants will have experience as a member of a project control team.

Scheduling / Integrated Scheduling – Skilled in the use of planning tools such as Microsoft Project. Plan projects using scheduling techniques to help ensure projects meet key dates and objectives. Ability to establish robust and realistic schedules, taking account of resource constraints and work breakdown requirements, and able to integrate schedules within a hierarchical structure. Ability to baseline schedules and manage baseline changes, update progress and conduct Critical Path Analysis and Schedule Risk Analysis.

Earned Value Management / Baseline Control – Good understanding of the fundamental principles of Earned Value Management (EVM). Skilled in the use of EVM toolsets, such as Primavera, Cobra etc. Experienced in running EVM systems and controlling project control cycles, generating and analysing EVM Reports, and in assessing and managing changes to project baselines in a systematic and controlled manner.

Control Account Management – Experienced in managing Control Accounts in accordance with defined budgets and associated work scope. Co-ordinate the definition of assigned elements of the project so that they meet customer requirements, are commercially viable, and can form a basis for developing project Control Account Plans. Develop resource estimates and define basis of estimates. Able to analyse progress and implement Control Account changes to meet time / cost and quality objectives. Identify, manage and mitigate Control Account risks, and realisation of opportunities. Develop performance measurement baselines and / or work scope changes as required. Able to interface with and manage key suppliers. Co-ordinate and manage activities on assigned project elements and sub-projects to ensure delivery to plan, monitor performance against plan and take action to ensure issues and problems are addressed in an effective and timely manner. Support the preparation of project contract status reports and opportunity including the review of actual commitments like Estimate to Complete & Estimate at Completion.

Risk & Opportunity Management – Detailed understanding of the principles and processes of Risk & Opportunity Management (R&OM) as applied to project / contract definition and delivery phases. Able to analyse projects to define and document Risks / Opportunities and develop and implement realistic mitigation and fall-back plans. Ideally with experience in running Risk & Opportunity capture / definition sessions and regular R&O Reviews.

Change Management – Experience in managing Change Management processes on projects, with detailed knowledge of the processes required to analyse the potential impact of all types of changes to projects / contracts, understand and define the impact of change, manage the formal review and approval of changes in line with defined implementation plans relating to cost, schedule and scope, and maintaining change records.

The job holder will:

Liaise with all functions relevant to the delivery of assigned project elements and sub-projects to help build an integrated project team and to facilitate the achievement of project objectives.

Identify and work to achieve meaningful and practical objectives in the course of duties that reflect and satisfy the overall needs of the section and wider business.

Understand and strive to exceed the expectations of internal/external Customers and stakeholders.

Understand how the business performs, its operating procedures and deliverables, in order to achieve objectives associated with the role.

Two-way communication through sharing of information as appropriate and listening to other parties views and expectations

Support, co-operate with, and work with others in order to achieve common goals and objectives

Adopt a flexible and creative approach to problem solving, applying this to achieve practical solutions in the course of duties

Adopt a pro-active and flexible approach to duties of the role and the needs of the wider business

Undertake all mandatory and developmental training as deemed appropriate by the business

Subscribe to and actively participate in the Personal Development Review (PDR) process

Strive to adhere to acceptable standards of behaviour and performance as expected by the business and defined in Company policy

Any other duties as deemed reasonable and appropriate by the business

Your Skills & Qualifications

Able to demonstrate appropriate experience in one or more of the above project control specialisms, supported by recognised academic and / or professional qualifications, such as Degrees or equivalent, PMI / APM related qualifications.

Preferably the applicant will have exposure to Project Management activities within a matrix organisation. Ideally they should have an understanding of the BAE Systems Saudi Arabia business, or an ability to develop this quickly, with 4 – 8 years of working experience.

Understands and accurately applies the principles of Life Cycle Management (LCM) frameworks.

Familiar with, and can apply, a range of interpersonal and communication skills both internal and external to the company.

Confident and assured in situations involving customers, sub-contractors and partners.

Staff management experience or capability; able to motivate and develop small teams.

Expert in the tools and techniques of project management and Project Control.
